Are You Ready for Your Free Salesforce Upgrades?!

On February 2, 2016, Salesforce announced that in Q2 of 2016, Sales Cloud and Service Cloud customers will receive free upgrades to include new features.

What does this mean for you?

Naming Convention:
The Salesforce editions previously referred to as:
  • Professional
  • Enterprise
  • Unlimited
..are now referred to as:
  • Professional Lightning Edition
  • Enterprise Lightning Edition
  • Unlimited Lightning Edition
New Features:
If you are on the Sales Cloud, based on the corresponding edition below, you will receive the following new features:

Professional Lightning Edition Now Includes:
  • Workflow Automation
  • Standard Sales Console
  • Custom Profiles & Page Layouts
  • Record Types for Custom Processes
  • Unlimited Apps & Tabs
Enterprise Lightning Edition Now Includes Professional Features PLUS:
  • Customizable Sales Console
  • Partial Sandbox
  • 25 Developer Sandboxes
  • Mobile Two-Factor Identity
Unlimited Lightning Edition Now Includes Enterprise Features PLUS:
  • Partial Sandbox
  • 100 Developer Sandboxes

If you are on the Service Cloud, based on the corresponding edition below, you will receive the following new features:

FAQs Regarding This Development:

When will these new features be rolled out?
The new capabilities will be deployed on a rolling schedule starting in May 2016.

What action do Salesforce Admins, Developers, Business Leaders need to take?
No action needs to be taken in order to enable these features. 

Once these features have been enabled, you should certainly leverage them to help streamline, simplify and automate your business process while delighting your end users.

For example - if you are on the Professional Edition, and will finally have access to workflow automation, the sales console, custom profiles and page layouts and record types - this opens up many opportunities for you to dramatically transform the way you do business.
