Salesforce Connections 2016 - Here's What You Missed

This blog post is dedicated to all those who could not make it to Salesforce Connections 2016.

If you never heard of Salesforce Connections - I've decided to dub it "The Dreamforce for Digital Marketing" since it's all about best practices, how-to's and upcoming features and functionality around the Salesforce products: Pardot (pronounced Par-dot) and Marketing Cloud.

I attended this event to better support Brainiate clients who are interested in leveraging these products to complement their existing use of the Sales Cloud and Service Cloud.

By immersing myself in the content available at Salesforce Connections, I have definitely accelerated and dramatically increased my awareness and competency regarding these tools, understanding how they are used across multiple industries (including retail, manufacturing, healthcare, professional services), verticals, and in organizations in various sizes (from small startups to large enterprise organizations).

I won't bore you with all of the details, but I will provide you with a high level of the key events and learnings that I experienced:


The various keynotes included entertaining, inspirational and insightful use cases, highlights of new features and enhancements to streamline, simplify and automate email campaign distributions, SMS and mobile communications with customers while leveraging critical integrations between Sales, Service and Marketing.

The expo included many third party vendors, app integrators and other service providers to help expand on the core offerings associated with marketing and campaign management.

The expo also had many best practice presentations, with customers (users) demonstrating how they use Pardot and Marketing Cloud to manage their own campaign management efforts.

There were many hands-on workshops to learn how to use Journey Builder, Email Studio, Social Studio and more - using realistic use cases to demonstrate how simple and easy it is to use the tools to create, update and monitor digital marketing campaigns.


While there were many sessions to choose from, I created my own agenda to focus almost exclusively on the hands-on aspects of building lead nurturing campaigns, manage lead scoring and grading, creating drip campaigns in the Automation Studio and leveraging Journey Builder.

These sessions were absolutely fantastic and definitely provided me with the intense and focused learning experiences that I was looking for.

Of course there were many networking events, parties and the Stevie Wonder concert!

It was definitely a huge plus to see many familiar faces in the sessions, at the expo, the keynotes and even the hallways in between. Connecting with the rest of the Salesforce community at these events is always a pleasure!
