Become an Awesome Admin:

How to Empower Your Sales Team with Salesforce1 + Photos
  • Are you a Salesforce Administrator?
  • Do you want to impress your colleagues while learning new tricks?
  • Are you juggling so many projects and requests, that you just don’t have time to learn about new features?
If so - you’re going to love my new series “Become an Awesome Admin.”

My goal is to share Salesforce secrets and best practices with Salesforce Admins to continuously impress yourself and your colleagues with your super powers while helping your team work smarter.

In this article, we will focus on cool ways that your Sales team can leverage Salesforce1 and the native camera on their mobile phones to capture more robust information about their prospects, customers, deals and related interactions in a way that is easy, simple, intuitive and impactful.

Required tools:
  • Salesforce1
  • Mobile phone with functioning camera

Suppose you’re in the interior landscaping business - meaning that you provide a service to taking care of indoor plants for various clients.

You want to show your clients how your team dramatically improves the life, vitality and appearance of their indoor plants.

What better way to accomplish this than by snapping before and after pictures of your client's plants - before you begin service and after you have brought their plants back to life.

Here’s how you do it:

Simply leverage your Salesforce1 mobile app while on location at the client’s site. Navigate to the appropriate Salesforce record (either the contact, account, opportunity, etc.) and select POST.

From this screen, you can select the paper clip icon to add an attachment. Then select your camera and snap a picture.

Since you are also adding a Chatter post, you can include any description to accompany the Chatter post for this file.

At this point, you (or anyone on your team) can navigate to the same record in Salesforce and see your photo saved directly in Salesforce.

Suppose you aren’t in the interior landscaping business. How could you leverage this same functionality for your sales team?

Sales Meetings:
  • Capture photos of business cards
  • Snap pictures of your leads, when meeting them at a trade show or other event.
Follow Up:
  • Photograph how your clients’ environment has changed before and after purchasing your products/services.
  • Take a picture of the growth that your client has experienced as a result of your relationship with them.
  • Are you in a real estate or construction related industry? Take photos of the property or job site and the progression of the development of the project.
  • Take photos of your products to include in upcoming product catalogs.
  • Photograph how others are using your products (or should use your products).
  • If you are in a service-related business, have your employees take photos of the job, demonstrating that service has been completed (carpets are clean, furniture has been reupholstered).
  • If you are visiting a client at their location
